JC (Jamison) France, grandson of Bill France, founder of NASCAR and J.C.'s half brother, Russell Richmond, son of Grand Am founder, Jim France, was arrested Wed. evening, Oct. 7 for drunk driving and possession of cocaine.

The two were stopped by police for racing in Daytona Beach. Reports say France was driving a Lamborghini and Richmond was in a Porsche Cayenne.

According to the police, France reeked of alcohol and slurred his words in a parking lot before failing a sobriety test.

Richmond proceeded to brag about his powerful family and repeatedly asked officers if they knew what being a France meant, according to police.

Richmond then demanded to see a supervisor and threatened he would make sure to have the officers fired, becuase the France family "owned Daytona Beach."

Richmond was also charged with possession of hydrocodone and threat by corruption of a public official. They were released on bail yesterday afternoon, France on $4,500 and Richmond on $10,500.  The half brothers bonded out of jail Thursday.

NASCAR reacted promptly and issued a statement saying JC France will be suspended from all competitions.

“JC France was arrested last night in Daytona Beach, FL, for driving under the influence. He was also charged for possession of cocaine. JC is a driver in Grand American Road Racing series. Grand Am has issued a penalty notice and suspended JC indefinitely from all competition for actions detrimental to racing. The penalty is not appealable. JC is being treated like any other competitor. His suspension is immediate and indefinite,” NASCAR said in a statement.
